چکیده

The pressure vessel design is a fundamental step during the construction of new pressurized water reactors (PWRs). In these facilities, several safety requirements are necessary to guarantee protection workers, community and environment against release radioactive materials. Design by Analysis procedure present in ASME Code, Section III, for nuclear components, which consist rigorous analysis classification all types stresses loading conditions incorporate smaller coefficients. limits were based on shell theory. However, precise rules achieving various stress categories, solid finite element analysis, have not been implemented code. For this reason, work presents methodology linearization elastic vessel-nozzle intersections. So was modeling tridimensional elements, analyzed verified as component. Then, discussion how perform code verifications presented, well mapping stresses. lines that constructed between transition structural elements longitudinal plane (0º) nozzle transversal (90º) higher compared with III limits.

Grain Boundary Segregation in Commercial Nuclear Reactor Pressure Vessel Steels

Grain boundary (GB) segregation of impurity/solute atoms in surveillance test specimens of a commercial western-type pressurized water reactor pressure vessel (RPV) steel has been observed by using state-of-the-art 3D atom probe (3DAP) field ion microscope (laser-assisted local electrode-type atom probe: laser-LEAP). The GB segregation is considered to be an origin of the embrittlement of the R...

Positron Annihilation Measurements on Nuclear Reactor Pressure Vessel Steels

Positron Annihilation Spectroscopy is a valuable microscopic method to study radiation damage in nuclear reactor pressure vessel steels. At SCKoCEN, a new positron lifetime setup, suited to measure positron lifetimes in irradiated steel, is being constructed. The particularity of this setup is that the prompt count rate originating from the induced 60Co-activity in the steel is highly reduced. ...

Influence of Flaw Shapes on Stress Intensity Factors for Pressure Vessel Surface Flaws and Nozzle Corner Cracks

The influence of the flaw shape on the variation of stress-intensity factors along the crack front is examined for longitudinal inner surface flaws in pressure vessels, and for corner cracks present at the intersection of a pressure vessel and a nozzle. For the inner surface flaw problem, the geometry of the pressure vessel considered is that of a commercial pressure vessel. The analyzed flaw s...

An Effective EOS Based Modeling Procedure for Minimum Miscibility Pressure in Miscible Gas Injection

The measurement of the minimum miscibility pressure (MMP) is one of the most important steps in the project design of miscible gas injection for which several experimental and modeling methods have been proposed. On the other hand, the standard procedure for compositional studies of miscible gas injection process is the regression of EOS to the conventional PVT tests. Moreover, this procedure d...

Design and Analysis of Pressure Vessel Subjected to Pressure-temperature Variation (TECHNICAL NOTE)

Pressure vessel is a container used to store fluids under pressure and temperature. The fluids can be air, water, chemicals, fuel, gases etc. are most commonly used in food and chemical industries, oil refineries and so on. Pressure vessel is subjected to thermal and structural loads for power plant applications. Since the pressure vessel are subjected to both structural and thermal loads stres...
